Princess Pine, Rare & Vulnerable Native Plant

Princess Pine
Lycopodium obscurum, or more commonly Princess Pine is designated in NYS an Exploitably vulnerable native plant

The Princess Pine, also known as clubmoss or ground pine, found in the climax forest of the Romany unit of Camp Wendy, is a protected plant in New York State. It may not yet be endangered, but it is still at risk. This tiny pine, slowly growing only six inches tall, is native to New York State and the Northeastern USA and Canada. It’s just one of the many special plants that can be found at Wendy and my personal favorite.

All plants enumerated on the lists of endangered species in subdivision:

(a) Of this section, threatened species in subdivision

(b) Of this section, rare species in subdivision

(c) Of this section, or exploitably vulnerable species in subdivision

(d) Of this section are protected native plants pursuant to section 9-1503 of the Environmental Conservation Law.
